Sound Design Personal Project

In this self-initiated project, I challenged myself to deepen my understanding of cinematic sound design by completely stripping a Sam Kolder-style travel video of its original audio and rebuilding the entire soundscape from scratch. Every sound you hear — from the rush of water to ambient textures and subtle Foley details — was carefully sourced, layered, and mixed by me to bring the visuals to life in a fresh, immersive way.

The video itself remained untouched visually. My focus was entirely on crafting an audio experience that matched the pacing, mood, and cinematic energy of the original — a true test of rhythm, tone, and storytelling through sound alone.

Coming from a background in music production and audio engineering, this project allowed me to consolidate those skills into a visual editing context. It was a defining moment for me creatively — I gained a stronger intuition for emotion-driven cuts and the power of dynamic audio to elevate video edits. This style now feels like second nature.
